Festival Opening Party - Sat 3rd July
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 16:03
On Edge blasts off through the sonic and visual stratosphere with an action packed opening traversing new music, text, improvisation, video and media.

With hand picked screenings of the best of the Other:Cairns online gallery, and performances by artists from all corners of the country, Mofo will explode in a sensory explosion of sound and image. Snawklor (Melb), Art Doom, DJ Glass Corpse (Dar), Cured Pink (Bris), and John von Sturmer (Syd).
Snawklor is a decade long musical collaboration between visual artists Dylan Martorell and Nathan Gray (now with Duncan Blachford on drums) and they make improvised electro acoustic music and sound installation with whatever is at hand: exotic instruments, field recordings, toys and electronics.
Glass Corpse is Darwin-based Kris Keogh, founder and resident DJ of Megabass, bringing you the only the filthiest dubstep/wonky/whatever.
Art Doom play dark ambient circus music, sort of like cutting a head off with a paintbrush and painting a canvas with an axe: evil on a stick!!
Cured Pink performs back in the hometown after a tour of Melbourne for a cassette release through noise label Sabbatical Recordings.
A long and distinguished career in Aboriginal studies, Jphn von Sturmer is widely published in the areas of Aboriginal studies, structuralist theory and art criticism. Has made a number of ethnographic films and since 1994, has been a freelance writer-critic-artist-research consultant.
