Yakumo Honjin – Aphids
Yakumo Honjin is a music and video installation for video, miniature percussion, violin and harp, and is inspired by a 280 year old samurai hotel located on Lake Shinji. Yakumo Honjin explores the concept of 'oku' – or hidden – a theory which informs traditional architecture, garden design and music. Based in Melbourne, Aphids undertakes cross-artform projects usually involving contemporary music, international cross-cultural exchanges and collaborations.

Festival Opening Party
On Edge blasts off through the sonic and visual stratosphere with an action packed opening traversing new music, text, improvisation, video and media.
With hand picked screenings of the best of the Other:Cairns online gallery, and performances by artists from all corners of the country, Mofo will explode in a sensory explosion of sound and image. Featuring Snawklor (Melb), Art Doom, DJ Glass Corpse (Dar), Cured Pink (Bris), and John von Sturmer (Syd).

Cairns artists Elizabeth Dunn and Jessie Hall present [please give: it a moment], an interactive installation of heart/brain advice and obstacles that straddles the gap between two places.
Facing the risks and the realities of their very recent move from up North to the throngs of Melbourne, Elizabeth and Jessie have created a symbolic trail for wandering and exploring in the combined gallery spaces of TCB art inc, in Melbourne, and Wallwork Studio's in Cairns.

Liquid Architecture
The annual Liquid Architecture festival hosts a night of sound art/new music with International and National sound and performance artists. Liquid Architecture is now in its 11th year, with the festival taking place across Australia, and the Cairns concert features the duo Lionel Marchetti (France) & Yoko Higashi (Japan), and Joe Musgrove (Bris).

Submerge#d presents a diverse and eclectic night of short media and performance works from local and guest practitioners.
Guest artist, Arahmaiani (Indonesia) is a key-figure in the current contemporary art scene in both Indonesia and South East Asia, and draws from community process and social/political issues in developing innovative performance art. Also featuring post (Syd), tako seijin (Sam Tupou), Zane Saunders, Unstrumenta Orchestra, Shannon O'Neill (syd), ReelDance – Australian & New Zealand Awards 2010, John Von Sturmer (Syd), Kris Keogh (Dar), Font featuring Tweak Bakini, Hanzard and lots more.

RMB City
In collaboration with Vitamin Creative Space China and the Institute of Modern Art Brisbane, KickArts presents two recent video works from contemporary video artist Cao Fei. Cao Fei's work responds to China's rapid urbanisation, its giddying pace of social change and economic development. Since 2007 Cao Fei has been working online in Second Life under the guise of her avatar China Tracy.

2Whyte
2Whyte is a new creative development process that brings together two Far North Queensland dance artists from very different cultural backgrounds.
Raymond D. Blanco is an Indigenous dancer, choreographer and director, an acknowledged leader in the development of Indigenous dance and the performing arts, both in Australia and Internationally. Raphael Blanco is a 76 year-old Cuban dancer and teacher, and one of the first Cuban immigrants in Australia.
